History
At the heart of it all
It all started in 1935 with a meeting of neighbors who decided to put their trust in one another instead of a bank. Since then, our credit union has grown to nearly 115,000 members—who all share a commitment to putting community first and providing each member with personal care and service.
The seed was planted and quickly grew
Redford Township Credit Union was founded in 1935 at the home of Arthur and May Jenkins, and it wasn’t long before others joined.
- 1936 – Detroit’s Research Craftsmen’s Federal Credit Assoc.
- 1937 – Detroit’s Research Craftsmen’s Federal Credit Union
- 1941 – Research Federal Credit Union
- 1954 – Livonia Public Employees Credit Union
- 1972 – Welcomed Our Lady of Loretto Credit Union

Through the decades, we’ve maintained our core values and remain committed, charitable, credible, and united.
- 1978 – Welcomed Building Employees Credit Union
- 1980s – Changed name to Livonia Community Credit Union
- 1985 – Welcomed Photographic Credit Union, Communications Center Federal Credit Union, and Tube Employees Federal Credit Union
- 1996 – Welcomed St. Gemma Parish Credit Union
- 1999 – Redford & Livonia joined together and became Community Choice Credit Union

- 2007 – Research and Community Choice joined together and became the new Community Choice Credit Union
